Are you already wearing your ruby slippers?

Marketing guru Seth Godin wrote an interesting blog post about ruby slippers and what you would ask for in a project if you could have just one wish. It’s a good idea, but his title premise – Ruby Slippers – got me thinking about something else. Seth used the wrong icon for his post. He should have used Aladdin’s Lamp. Rub it and get a wish.

Ruby Slippers, as we all know, were Dorothy’s way to leave the Land of Oz and get back home. We often feel like poor Dot – we’re working on a project and we keep thinking – everything would be better IF I could just have this one thing. But what Dot, and Seth, missed is that SHE ALREADY HAS THE SLIPPERS. She has the way to get back home all along.

Are you already wearing YOUR ruby slippers? Do you already have everything you need to move your brand forward? If you stepped back a moment, looked down and saw that you had those bright, shiny pumps could you get your brand clicking by using what you’ve already got? I’m betting the answer is yes.
