How do you overcome friction and gravity for your ideas?

When you shoot an arrow at a target, it has tremendous velocity at the start. Velocity is comprised of both energy and direction. All that stands in the way of the bullseye is friction and gravity. Friction redirects the arrow, throwing it off course. Gravity drags on the arrow, perhaps stopping it from ever reaching its intended destination.

When you launch an idea, it too has tremendous velocity — it has both energy and direction, plus an intended target. But friction from competing messages, conflicting ideas and confusing communications can alter your course. Similarly gravity, in the form of hurried expectations, negative emotions and general misunderstanding, can drag at your idea, weighing it down.

So, how do you overcome friction and gravity for your ideas? Same way as you do for arrows — make sure they’re sharp and aim a little higher than your target. Think through all the questions, concerns and competition your ideas will need to overcome. And then take aim and let fly!
